Great cycle infrastructure is often obstructed by parked traffic. This off-road cycle track on Asline Road is fantastic, but is used as a parking space at school drop offs, by taxis, work vans and visitors coaches on match days at Sheffield ... [more]

Great bike parking at Sheffield Hallam University - covered stands, with swipe card access for added security.

Bike specific cycle track with traffic lights enable bikes to cross the inner ring road, for quick and easy access into the city centre.

Cycle track has barriers placed across it where it crosses Bramall Lane, which stop the smooth flow of cycle traffic. Completely unnecessary.

Well-used cycle parking at Hallam Collegiate site - could do with being under cover though.

Junction of Hanover Way cycle path (Ring Route) with Peak Park Anniversary route. The angles at this junction are way too sharp: cycles don't turn on a pin. As a result cyclists tend to continue on the footway to Broomspring Lane. Also pede ... [more]

Cycleway along Hanover Way. Good: Plenty of space. Pedestrian side is away from the road so more pleasant for walkers - however it is possible for cyclists to veer round peds in the cycleway if they need to.

Approach to subway from Ecclesall Rd (Moore St roundabout) The corner is blind is there is a high risk of a collision with either a pedestrian or another cyclist.

minimalist contraflow, brunswick st (backed up by 20mph)

Think the give way line should be behind this cycle lane, not in front.

More from Norfolk Park Rd (The Street View shows you how it used to look)

New contra-flow scheme, Norfolk Park Rd. We thought they were going to go for a more minimalist "except cyclists" approach but they've gone for plenty of engineering!

Footbridge over Sheffield railway station, as seen in #38487. Steps at both ends make this an awkward route for bikes - use the other bridge instead which has lifts.

This footpath is made out of grave headstones.

Cycle Sheffield disembark at Halfway. (Note bikes are not normally allowed on this service - this was a special occasion.)

The downhill run at Banner Cross, Ecclesall Rd South

Snow in Sheffield stopped buses and cars for a week in December - It didn't stop this fella though!

Poorly maintained signage at a key NCN junction.

This is what the crossing of Upper Hanover Way at Leavygreave looked like BEFORE the tramway was put in. Not all is progress, can see from Street View below what it looks like today. The photo is scanned and from ab ... [more]
